I’m Counting Most of my Bets on Red Bull Records’ Artist Blxst to Blow up This Year

Artist: Blxst

Album/Mixtape: “No Love Lost (Deluxe)”

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Review:

After five years in the music game Blxst has released a debut album with Red Bull Records that combines the soul of R&B and the drive of Hip-Hop.

Blxst originally gained two-million streams independently for his track “Hurt” back in 2019, which lead to labels calling him to sign a deal.

“No Love Lost”

As an introduction track “No Love Lost” carries an ominous tone to it through the drum kit in the instrumental. Blxst’s inflections in his verses build on the melodic feel of the track. When listening to the track it sounded way better in a car than in any other way of listening, the bass just comes in a bit deeper while driving.

“Hurt”

I really enjoyed the simplicity of the introduction, reminds me of a regular sunny day in Los Angeles. As the track continues to build there is a progression of confidence and motivation that Blxst brings up in his lyrics. Blxst also covers the topics of insecurities and never getting too comfortable when having a hustler mentality paired with the piano chords and relaxed instrumental allows for a great track to do some homework or errands to.

•••

“Pressure”

This track also feels very relaxed and soothing in a way with the light angelic back up vocals. Blxst rides the tempo of the track easily. Also, the length of this track fits right in the sweet spot where it doesn’t feel too short and it doesn’t feel like it drags on which is a plus for replay-ability.

•••

“Forever Humble”

The groovy guitar chords are what made this track standout from the rest. First listen I was afraid that the track would come out corny but when the track builds on depth with 808’s and beat drops. Blxst’s wordplay also keeps the track from getting stale.

Overall, Blxst did an amazing job with this project. From his singer-rapper style to creating tracks that give off that relaxed Los Angeles vibe this is what makes the project – – TASTEFULL.
